An Exchange Traded Fund (ETF) trades like a stock, bond, and is usually based upon an index. For example, there is an ETF the mirrors the S&P 500, Nasdaq 100, and just about any other index you can imagine. They represent the most actively traded investment vehicle on many exchanges. The E-mini contracts also mirror most of the index an ETF covers.
