Past performance isn’t a proper indication of future overall performance. A poor-performing fund which had massive deficits in one year shouldn’t be considered to do similarly in the subsequent year, because a shift in the stock exchange could turn it around. On the other hand, a continually worthwhile fund could accomplish poorly in the following year.
